New Android mini computer selling for approx. Rs.5,000

A Chinese company is currently selling an Android 4.0 running thumb drive that lets you use Android on any of your monitors. This miniscule thumb drive, dubbed the MK802, runs on Android 4.0 and has an Allwinner A10 or a 1GHz Cortex A8 chip with 512 MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, a full sized USB 2.0 port and HDMI as well. It also has a microSD card slot that is expandable up to 32GB and because it is based on the AllWinner A10 chip, it allows users to insert a microSD card with Ubuntu or any other Linux distribution, giving you complete control.

Earlier, we came across a similar product that went by the name of Cotton Candy. Developed by Norwegian Company, FXI Tech, it had a dual-core 1.2GHz Samsung Exynos ARM CPU with Google’s Android operating system onboard. Connectivity options included Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI-out and a microSD card slot. The major difference between this device and the others is that it has a female HDMI port requiring users to plug-in an extra HDMI cord. However, with this new Android thumbstick, all you need now is a display and it can be either an HDTV, or a Mac or Windows PC.

Google Project Glass - Jumping Video

The ability to digitize a part of our world for accessing all kinds of data based on location and what you’re actually looking at, i.e. augmented reality is no longer science fiction. While mobile applications have been available for some time now, based on AR technology, we as consumers are always “looking” for something more advanced and that’s where Google’s Project Glass (PG) comes into the “pictures” (pardon the puns).

Project glass has been an intriguing concept, since Google’s fascinating advertorial video for the prototypes made it out, about a month ago. The idea that we could have mobile technology combined with AR tech in a lightweight, wearable module naturally piqued the world’s curiosity. Within the span of its ‘debut’, test results of the Project glass prototypes have been making the rounds as Google employees take the technology to the field. There’s nothing like a field test to give you the right perspective.

IBM researching Lithium-air batteries, to run 500 miles on single charge

T
he switch from gasoline to electricity as the primary power source for vehicles stands to be one of the most important technology shifts of the first half of the 21st century. Recognizing this need, scientists at IBM Research-Almaden started the Battery 500 Project in 2009 to develop a Lithium-Air battery that could travel 500 miles on a single charge. Leveraging IBM's leadership across science and technology in chemistry, physics, nanotechnology and supercomputing modeling in both its Almaden and Zurich laboratories, this research is also done in conjunction with the other Battery 500 Project collaborators, including national laboratories.

Much Needed Technology for the future

Next iPhone to reportedly use in-cell touch panels

Apple to use new technology for their pannels

As far as iPhone rumours go, they virtually circulate throughout the year. The amount of rumours surrounds the next IPhone gathered momentum shortly after the iPhone 4S was launched and this mainly stemmed from the fact that Apple released a near identical device design-wise as compared to the iPhone 4. The last we heard of the upcoming iPhone was that it would feature a liquidmetal finish at the back thus propelling the belief that Apple will design the next iPhone differently, which of course is expected. According to a report by Digitimes, Apple is expected to use a new panel for their displays which would make the handset thinner and lighter. The brand will incorporate panels using the in-cell technology that are being manufactured by Sharp and Toshiba Mobile Displays (TMD).

Samsung Galaxy S III rumoured to support wireless charging

The rumour mills continue to churn speculations about, what’s possibly the mobile industry's most anxiously awaited Android. There’s a good reason for all this excitement as Samsung’s previous two Galaxy S smartphones have been huge successes, so there’s a lot of pressure on Samsung to raise the bar one more time. The Galaxy S III was a no-show at MWC, but that’s only becoz Samsung will be hosting their own event on March 22nd, where in all prob.,the S III will be revealed. Coming back to our latest rumour, the new droid is said to support wireless charging, and none of that last-gen inductive charging nonsense.

Nokia's latest patent says get tattooed for mobile notification

Get Connected with Tatoo
The vibration aspect of mobile phone notifications is definitely a very relevant setting for cell phone technology. It allows for discretion to a large extent and bears a certain professionalism and courtesy depending on the environment i.e. at work, during lectures, meetings etc. However, there are a few handsets whose vibration settings tend to be just a little stronger than most and that, in contrast, can get a bit embarrassing at times. A recent report showcased a new patent by Nokia that might just change the game of how one gets discreet alerts via their cell phones. The patent filed states that Nokia would enable their users to be notified of phone alerts by vibrations on their skin via a ferromagnetic tattoo. The way this innovation works is quite simple - whenever you receive a message, IM, e-mail, call, essentially any notification your phone will send out a signal in the form of a magnetic field set to a particular frequency, which will be detected by the tattoo on your body.

Google Glasses may Launch in India Costing About Smartphone Price

It sounds like something out of a science fiction novel. Search engine giant Google is developing a pair of electronic glasses that can stream information directly to the user’s eyes in real time.
The glasses, to be launched by the end of the year, will be more like smartphones with the lenses serving as a kind of see-through computer monitor.
Loaded with a low-resolution, built-in camera, the Google glasses “will be able to monitor the world in real time and overlay information about locations, surrounding buildings and friends who might be nearby,” a New York Timesreport said.
“You will be able to check in to locations with your friends through the glasses,” a Google employee told the Times. Google would not confirm whether the ultra-modern eyewear is in development.
The report also says that the state-of-the-art spectacles, not designed for constant wear, will display information via a heads-up display “in an augmented reality view, rather than as a Web browser page like those that people see on smartphones.”

Lenovo’s IdeaPad Yoga 13 with Windows 8: Ultrabook And Tablet in one Gadget

We were back at Lenovo’s suite today and got a chance to spend a bit more time with a laptop that we didn’t get around to discussing on Tuesday. We’ve covered the ThinkPad and IdeaTab already, but we haven’t spent any time on the IdeaPad line. Where ThinkPad primarily targets business users, IdeaPad is a consumer line. There were plenty of IdeaPad laptops on display, but the one that really stood out is their Yoga 13 laptop. It won’t launch until Windows 8 is released, but already it’s looking to be one of the more promising ultrabooks.

Like all ultrabooks, the Yoga 13 is very thin. Intel requires a 13.3” (or smaller) ultrabook to be at most 18mm thick, but there’s a provision that says if a laptop has a touchscreen, it can be up to 20mm thick. Well, Lenovo’s IdeaPad Yoga 13 includes a touchscreen, but it still comes in at just 17mm thick. It also manages to do all this without sacrificing battery life, as Lenovo still rates the Yoga for over eight hours of battery life.
