Low Cost laptop Bangladeshi Laptop Named as DOEL

Bangladesh’s Prime Minister unveiled Doel (suspiciously named). It will cost just 10,000 taka, which is about (£83). It is the most basic 10-inch laptop with Via processor that runs on Android operating system.                                                                         There are three more advanced version of Doel. The ‘Advanced’ model runs on Linux. It has Pentium processor and is packed with 14-inch WXGA LED backlit screen. The in-between two models also runs Linux, but on Intel Atom processors.
State-owned telecommunications company Telephone Shilpa Sangstha is manufacturing the laptops as a part of 1.84 billion taka project under Digital Bangladesh scheme of the government with a hope to digitally connect the entire country by 2021.

Currently only 10 percent of the components are suppose to be produced in the country, but within six months the government is hoping to import just 40 percent of the laptop’s components.
Telephone Shilpa Sangstha managing director, Mohammad Ismail said, “This is a big step towards building a digital Bangladesh. When villages get laptops at a cheaper price they will be connected to the internet and that will bring lots of benefits.”

The prices of the Doel Laptop has not yet been known and hopefully it will be revealed to us very soon. Best of luck to Doel laptop and I hope this laptop will reach every villages and cities of the country.
