Facebook, currently the biggest social network in
the world, has a large policy list which it changes so often that
keeping up can become tough. To make life (or rather, social networking)
a little easier, Facebook has gathered all its policies into one place
so you can have all your questions answered. Furthermore, the page is
divided up into sections to help you get to the specific information
that you're looking for. If you're looking for the terms you agree to
when you join and use Facebook, you go to the Statement of Rights and
Responsibilities. If you want to know what information Facebook receives
and how they use it, you go to Data Use Policy, and finally, if you
want to know what type of content is not allowed and how to report
abuse, you go to Community Standards. The idea behind the page is
"Everything you need to know in one place".
You will also find links to help you with ads and sponsored stories,
Credits terms, Pages, the platform, payments terms, promotions and brand
resources. Furthermore, there are links to help you learn more about
Facebook's Principles, ads on Facebook and the Safety Center. A Facebook
spokesperson released a statement saying, "This week, we began rolling
out the Facebook Terms and Policies Hub, a central resource for all of
our policies. Our hope is that this new resource will make our policies
more transparent and accessible for the people who use Facebook by
offering easy access to answers to specific policy questions ranging
from platform to ads to content.”
If you take a moment to actually go through all the information,
you'll find that it's not written in lengthy legal jargon, rather in a
language which non-lawyers can understand. Facebook is currently the
world's largest social network and knowing what the service is doing
with your information is the primary factor of importance in having a
page where all the policies are spelled out in comprehensible language.
Do you keep up with Facebook's policies? Do you think it's important to
stay tuned to what's happening with your information? Let us know what
you think in the comments section below.
