Instagram to come to Android

  

Android users, here's a treat for you. Instagram, the up until now iOS photo editing and sharing app will be coming to Android, soon. According to Mashable, , there are no specific details on the app being developed for Android, in terms of how it will look and when it will release, but what it will be focused on is growing membership. Kevin Systrom, the CEO of Instagram, said at LeWeb in Paris, "We have two people working on Android now. I’m excited to be able to see our numbers today nearly double." The company currently has 50 million users and they think that the move over to Android has the potential to double the number of users editing and sharing their photos.

Instagram, from when it first started has mostly been into adding more features for the only platform it was supported on.

They've increased the number of filters they've had, added tilt focus and improved sharing methods like adding hashtag support and location data to pictures. Of course, the company's goal is to make money at the end of the day and moving over to Android is a smart move. Their focus is to build up the network for advertisers, they have plans to include ads in the free app, so of course, adding more users is crucial. Shifting their focus from building the app up to adapting to a different platform makes sense.
