India’s Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has teamed up with Noida based Pantel Techno's to launch the Penta TPAD tablets. The tablets are officially labeled as Penta TPAD IS7O1R, Penta TPAD WS704C and Penta TPAD WS802C. Those who think that Aakash now has a competitor may note that the lowest priced TPAD will sell for Rs. 3250 which is quite a higher price as compared to Aakash’s Rs.2500 and 2999 price. Penta TPAD IS7O1R offers a nice 7″ real estate for Android 2.3 Gingerbread & uses 256 MB DDR2 of inbuilt RAM along with 3G dongle support, WiFi & 0.3 MP camera. The overall storage can be expanded to 32 GB using microSD card.
Penta TPAD WS704 too has 7″ display and upps the RAM to 512 MB. The processor (ARM11 IMAP210) operates at 1Ghz and the tablet runs on Android 2.3. BSNL’s offering 5GB data usage for Rs 750 on 3G & 7.5 GB data for Rs 250 on GPRS/EDGE.
Other features are same as its younger sibling with an exception of additional 1080p HD port. The cost of the tablet however is Rs.10k approx. Penta TPAD WS802C is bigger with 8″ display, has 512 MB RAM & a slightly faster processor (1.2 GHz). Other features are similar and the tablet is priced at Rs 12,678.
All the tablets will ship with 1 year warranty. BSNL’s become second telecom network operator in India to launch its own tablets. Earlier Reliance had launched their own 3G tabets. Do you think BSNL’s TPAD tablets will capture attention? What Do you Say ??
