Top smartphones under 20K in india

The sub 20,000 price mark has been an exciting segment and one with the most amount of buyers in the recent past. Well, phones have hit an absurd price mark of 40K and that’s just very expensive for most people. We’ve compiled a list of the top smartphones one could own, falling within the price bracket between 15K to 20K and here are the devices that made it to the list.

Sony Ericsson Neo V :

The Neo V made for a good value for money handset and we quite liked it when we reviewed it. It’s got a similar form factor to the Xperia Pro, with the only difference being the lack of a QWERTY keypad. Running on a 1GHz processor with Gingerbread on top, the Neo V is a well-loaded handset and if you’re looking for a good overall Android experience, then the Neo V fits the bill.

Here are the specs of the Sony Ericsson Neo V:
  • 3.7-inch scratch resistant capacitive touchscreen
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 5 Megapixel camera with LED flash, 720p video recording
  • Secondary VGA camera
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • Memory expandable up to 32GB via microSD card
Sony Ericsson Xperia Active :

We almost overlooked the Active when it first came to our labs. But guess what? This one was a surprise package. The Xperia Active isn’t just a fitness-oriented rugged Android phone, it packs quite a few features under its shell and unlike a lot of other Android phones in the market, it’s built to last. Powered by a 1GHz processor and an IP67 certification, the Active has the guts to push you from your sedentary lifestyle.

Here’s what the spec sheet looks like:
  •    3.0-inch scratch resistant capacitive touchscreen
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 5 Megapixel camera with LED flash, 720p video recording
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • Memory expandable up to 32GB via microSD card

Motorola DEFY+ :

The successor to the original DEFY features a bumped up 1GHz Cortex A8 processor, but the exact same industrial-looking rugged design. We put the IP67 certified DEFY+ through some crazy stress tests in our review and it came back challenging us for more. It might not have 720p recording out of the box, but there are a lot of options to get rid of that minor drawback. The DEFY+ is built like a tank and it’s another solidly built phone that simply wowed us.

Here’s the spec list for the DEFY+:
  • 3.7-inch scratch resistant touchscreen with Gorilla Glass
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 5 Megapixel camera with LED flash
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • Memory expandable up to 32GB via microSD card
Nokia Lumia 710 :
The little brother of the Nokia Lumia 800 did pack in some interesting stuff with an even more interesting price tag. If you’re looking for a Windows Phone under 20K, then this one definitely tops the list. It’s got a brilliant build, the Clear black display, a cool 1.4 GHz processor and some added Nokia goodies. However, it’s important to note that this one doesn’t have expandable memory, it’s got 8 gigs of internal memory.

Here’s the spec list for the 710:
  • 3.7-inch Clear black display with Gorilla Glass and a 480 x 800 pixel resolution
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support and Nokia Maps
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 5 Megapixel camera with LED flash, 720p recording
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
Samsung Galaxy I9003 :

The stripped down version of the original Galaxy S comes with an SC-LCD screen and an OMAP chipset with lesser internal storage, but fits in sweetly in our sub 20K price budget. Samsung’s Galaxy series has been churning out smartphone after smartphone and they’ve all fared extremely well, as compared to the competition. Also, it’s got quite a bit of developer support out there on the Internet

Here’s the spec list for the Galaxy I9003:
  • 4.0-inch SC-LCD capacitive touchscreen with Gorilla Glass and a 480 x 800 pixel resolution
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 5 Megapixel camera, 720p recording
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • Memory expandable up to 32GB via microSD card

Nokia E6 :

This business phone looks like pure class and guess what, it’s not just the looks. The E6 comes with one of the best keypads that’s ever graced a phone, along with a great screen and some impressive battery life. It’s got 8 gigs of internal storage and a 680 MHz ARM 11 CPU. Also, what’s interesting to note is that it’s upgradeable to their Nokia Belle operating system.
Here are the specs of the Nokia E6:
  • 2.46-inch Capacitive Touchscreen with a 640 x 480 pixel resolution
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support and Nokia Maps
  • Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 8 Megapixel camera dual LED flash, 720p video recording
  • Secondary VGA camera
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • Memory expandable up to 32GB via microSD card

A couple of handsets narrowly missed the list, because they didn’t fit into that exact price bracket. For example, the Galaxy R has been priced at slightly more than 20K and the Live with Walkman is slightly lower than 15K. Anyway, that’s our list for now. What do you guys think, any other smartphones besides these could make the sub 20K list? Let us know in the comments section
