ViewSonic announces three dual SIM ICS smartphones ahead of MWC

ViewSonic is doing all that it takes to get noticed and how! A few days ahead of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, they’ve announced their upcoming smartphone line-up consisting of three dual SIM Ice Cream Sandwich smartphones and a singular tablet. Also, in what looks like quite a confusing move, they’ve got seemingly similar names to their smartphone to Apple’s iPhone line up. They’ve announced the ViewPhone 4S for starters. They’ve also got the ViewPhone 4E, the 5E and the G70, which is the tablet. Check out the specs for each of these tablets after the break.

ViewPhone 4S -Dual Sim Android Phones

Here’s what the revealed spec sheet for the VIewPhone 4S looks like:

  • 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 640 pixels
  • 1GHz processor
  • Android 4.0
  • Dual SIM
  • 5 megapixel rear camera
  • VGA front camera

The 20.3mm thick ViewPhone 4E has the following specs:
  • 3.5-inch HVGA display
  • 650 MHz processor
  • Android 4.0
  • Dual SIM
  • 3 megapixel camera

The ViewPad G70, the tablet, comes with the following specifications:
  • 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels
  • 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi
  • 2 megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera
  • 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory
  • microSD card expandable upto 32GB

The table also has a few connectivity ports, including mini HDMI and the micro USB charging port. The last smartphone, the 5E is still under wraps and it’s going to have a 5-inch WVGA display with no other details divulged. We’re guessing they’re planning to launch a full range of smartphone, covering various price ranges and knowing ViewSonic, we might just get to see cheaper smartphones and tablets. Another important thing to note is that with Gingerbread, we did see a ton of budget smartphones coming up towards the latter end of that version’s cycle, but with Ice Cream Sandwich, there could be chances that budget Android 4.0 powered phones might just be launched right from the start, along with the more expensive ones.

Naturally, the pricing and availability for all these handsets hasn't been disclosed yet, but as always, stay tuned to this space for more announcements.
