India First Smartphone app 'Fight Back' For Women Safety

There’s an app for everything, and now you can go ahead and ‘Fight Back’ sexual harassment, courtesy a new smartphone app. The app comes from WhyPoll, a non-profit NGO based in New Delhi, the city infamous for the alarming rise of instances of sexual harassment. The Fight Back mobile app allows alerting family and friends with the click of a button. The SOS is sent through a text message, e-mail, Facebook, and is instantly delivered. The recipient can be tracked using GPS. The app comes across as a good initiative and it would be nice to see effective apps on similar lines.


This mobile solution striving for safety of women uses mobile capabilities, like GPS, SMS, location maps, GPRS and integration with social networking site (Facebook) and e-mail.
These medium help deliver maximum participation in the Women Safety drive. The app is now available in English and can be purchased for a price of Rs.100. However, it will soon be available in other languages, too. It is also expected to reach nine other cities by the end of next year.
