New brands on the horizon at Auto Expo 2012

New Year could not have begun on a better note than this for motor enthusiasts. Automobile enthusiasts will have a feast from January 5 to January11 at the 11th Auto Expo 2012 with a slew of new brands being launched throughout a week full of automotive extravaganza. As many as seven new brands are being launched for the first time in India by global auto majors. The new brands calling shots in India now include Paccar from Netherland, Ssangyong from Korea, Triumph from UK, USA’s Polaris, PSA Peugeot, Motor Home, Nissan with a new car brand along with decade old famous brand Vespa re-launching itself in a new avatar.
“Global companies like Polaris of USA, Triumph of UK, BMW with Mini and Motorrad, PSA Peugeot, Nissan, SSangyong of Korea, Paccar of Netherlands in the trucking segment, will be launching themselves at the expo this year.
Almost all the Indian automotive manufacturers are launching new models or variants,” shared S Sandilya, President, SIAM. He also added that “Several battery operated vehicles and hybrids will also be unveiled in this year’s edition of Auto Expo and almost all the vehicle halls would see new vehicles”.
It is learnt that the exhibition this year would have CEOs of world’s largest companies at the venue talking and interacting with visitors and press directly.
The expo this year is carrying the same theme of ‘Mobility for All’ forward and will focus on green technologies. The emphasis on safety and the need for environment friendly fuels/vehicles through technological advancements and innovative designs will be carried forward by all the leading vehicles and component manufacturers. Sharing his idea on the green technology as an area of focus, Arvind Saxena, Chairman, Trade Fair Committee, SIAM, said, “The focused theme of the expo will be New Technology- Green Technology. Vehicle manufacturers are ensuring that at least part of their stalls have the green message going. A few manufacturers will be displaying their “green line” of vehicles to reduce their carbon footprint.”
With 1500 participants from about 24 countries, the expo this year claims to have presence from each and every major automotive brand around the world. Germany has taken up the largest exhibition space in Pragati Maidan while Tata Motors has occupied the largest pavilion.
The organisers for the expo this year have given special stress on crowd management while laying emphasis on segregating business visitors from regular visitors. January 9, 10 and 11 would have only business visitors allowed from 10am to 1pm. The show, widely publicised through hoardings and new media, will have approximately 70,000 visitors each day, apart from 30,000 people involved in organising the event amounting to a total of more than 600,000 footfalls during the event.
For the record, 11th Auto Expo 2012, jointly organised by Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), is scheduled from 5-11 January 2012 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.
Officially the first day of the exposition is reserved exclusively for the media; the day is also a Goodwill day for the differently challenged people to visit the show.
